Director of Research and Accreditation, Principal Faculty, Physician Assistant Program
Job Description
Frostburg State University seeks qualified applicants for a Principal Faculty member and Director of Research and Accreditation for our Physician Assistant program established in 2019. Available to begin Summer 2025, this is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position with both teaching and administrative responsibilities. The PA program is based in Hagerstown, Maryland at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH).
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included. There is an option for the selected candidate to pursue clinical practice or doctoral scholarship one day per week with pay.

Areas of Responsibility
Program Assessment and Accreditation
- Program Assessment and ARC-PA Self-Study Leadership: Design and implement comprehensive data collection systems for ongoing program evaluation, coordinate stakeholder feedback, author and maintain self-study documentation, track key performance indicators, generate detailed analysis, develop and implement action plans, ensure continuous compliance, and present findings.
- Program Evaluation Management: Evaluate administrative resources, curriculum effectiveness, graduate outcomes, monitor faculty effectiveness, track progress toward goals, and assess clinical site and preceptor effectiveness.
- Quality Improvement: Design assessment tools, analyze data trends, identify areas needing improvement, develop and monitor corrective actions, and provide analysis support.
Teaching and Student Support, Academic Service
- Course Instruction: Serve as course director for Population Health and Research and Evidence Based Medicine courses, teach additional courses, develop and maintain course content, coordinate with faculty, and provide remedial instruction.
- Student Advising and Support: Serve as faculty advisor, provide academic counseling, monitor progress, assist with transitions, identify at-risk students, and participate in remediation plans.
- Admissions Process: Review applications, conduct interviews, participate in selection meetings, assist with admission criteria, and support recruitment.
- Faculty Collaboration: Participate in curriculum design, review program mission and goals, assess competencies, and support student progress.
- Service: Serve on committees, engage in professional activities, represent the program, and support recruitment and outreach.
Professional Development/Clinical Practice
Choose one track: Clinical Practice (maintain clinical practice one day per week and integrate into teaching) or Academic Development (pursue doctoral studies and apply research to program assessment).
Minimum Qualifications
- PA/MD/DO or relevant doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
- Two or more years of full-time clinical experience as a PA, MD, or DO.
- Three or more years of experience in healthcare education program assessment, accreditation, or research.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Experience teaching graduate-level courses in research methodology, evidence-based medicine, and medical humanities.
- If a PA, current NCCPA certification and eligibility for Maryland licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral or post-doctoral training in survey design, collection, and analysis.
- Willingness to dedicate one day per week to clinical practice or scholarship.
- Prior authorship experience with ARC-PA self-study reports.
- Published research on health professions education outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in mentoring in research design.
- Leadership experience in educational program assessment.
- Record of innovation in assessment methodology.
