Director of the Wellness Center
Job Details
Position Purpose:
The Director of Wellness Center is responsible for the overall development, planning and operation of Aurora University's Wellness Center including Health Services and Counseling Services programs. This includes intentional management of referrals to TimelyCare, AU's 24/7 medical and mental telehealth service. The Director serves as a key member of the University's Behavioral Intervention Team, which is responsible for determining interventions for students who may be disruptive or distressed. The Director provides ongoing review of services offered, including assessment of student needs and utilization of Wellness Center services, both in-person and via TimelyCare.

Essential Job Functions:
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise Health Services and Counseling Services staff.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise MSW student interns.
- Responsible for budgeting and managing expenses for the department.
- Analyze student data to provide data driven recommendation to create or modify campus wellness based programming.
- Oversee programming and communications across the university to foster support and assist with student mental health and holistic wellness needs.
- Implement screening, assessment, diagnosis, case management and treatment planning tools to provide students with needed services via telehealth referrals and/or in-person clinical services.
- Serve as a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team.
- Provide short-term clinical counseling services within a culturally competent framework to university undergraduate and graduate students.
- Make referrals to outside providers and services as appropriate.
- Serve as a campus community mental health expert offering consultative services to faculty, staff, administrations, athletic staff, and families in a variety of modalities ranging from informal individual consultation to structured workshops and trainings.
- Provide risk assessments and make appropriate recommendations and referrals.
- Provide substance abuse or behavioral health assessments after disciplinary violations to provide recommendations regarding treatment and to inform necessary sanctions or corrective actions.
- Participate in campus outreach initiatives and activities.
- Liaise with Human Resources to coordinate campus wide communication and training regarding health concerns.
- Execute other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Job Requirements:
Education: Masters or Doctoral degree in a mental health discipline (Social Work, Counseling or Clinical Psychology) and licensed, as a mental health provider in the state of Illinois required.
Special Requirements:
- Licensed as a mental health provider as outlined by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (www.idfpr.com).
- LCSW license required.
- Be available outside of work hours ("on call") for consultation regarding referrals to the Behavioral Intervention Team and/or other crises as appropriate.
Experience:
- A minimum of four years post-licensure experience or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a higher education environment (preferred) and/or with adults and young adults required.
Skills:
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, with a high degree of independent organization, communication, and ethical practice.
- Clinical experience relevant to working with college students or young adult populations.
- Experience providing crisis intervention.
- Well-developed public speaking skills; interest and comfort in providing outreach and consultation to groups.
- Ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships with all campus constituencies.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to interact in person, via electronic media, and on the telephone.
- The ability to move about campus and between locations.
- The ability to spend long periods of time standing or sitting
The anticipated pay rate for this position is $80,000-$90,000 per year. This compensation is subject to change at the sole discretion of the university, based on institutional needs.
