As the Director, Print and Mail Services, you will: Develop, implement, and sustain the vision, mission, and strategic plan for Print and Mail Services in alignment with University priorities. Formulate measurable goals and objectives and monitor progress to ensure transparency in departmental performance. Manage lifecycle planning for equipment and technology, including condition assessment, maintenance, replacement, and modernization to ensure reliable and efficient print and mail services. Ensure alignment of organizational structure, staffing models, production workflows, service delivery processes, and work practices with departmental strategy, customer requirements, and evolving University needs. Provide financial stewardship for the department through development and management of strategic plans and operating budgets, analysis of revenue and cost drivers, pricing and service strategies, and implementation and maintenance of performance reporting tools that support fiscal accountability and transparency. Assess print, mail, and distribution operations, identify service or performance issues, and implement improvements to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Develop and implement improvements to operating procedures, workflows, equipment, and contracted services to enhance reliability, efficiency, sustainability, and service quality. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, health, and accessibility standards and foster a culture of safety and accountability. Determine equipment, supply, service, and contract needs, negotiate agreements, and manage vendor performance within budget and institutional standards. Initiate and maintain high-trust relationships with campus stakeholders and customers, communicate departmental value and service capabilities, manage service expectations, and implement feedback mechanisms to support continuous improvement. Leverage evolving print production technologies, mailing automation, digital workflow systems, data capabilities, and industry best practices to enhance production efficiency, service quality, operational continuity, and overall departmental effectiveness. Evaluate changing customer needs, communication methods, service demand, and industry trends and develop long-range service strategies that support the University's academic, research, administrative, and outreach missions. Build and foster a people-centered culture that emphasizes safety, continuous learning, innovation, collaboration, inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence. Provide leadership and oversight of staff performance, such as setting goals, communicating expectations, delivering coaching and training, conducting evaluations, documenting performance, and recommending salary adjustments. Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, communications, operations management, supply chain management, public administration, business analytics, finance, print management, or related field or equivalent experience. 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in print and mail services, production operations, distribution services, materials management, or related operational management. Leadership experience supervising professional staff or managers. Experience managing operating budgets and financial planning processes. Skilled in strategic planning, goal setting, and performance measurement practices. Knowledge of print production, mail and distribution operations, production technologies, mailing processes, and/or related service-delivery systems. Knowledge of applicable postal, safety, environmental, regulatory, and/or institutional compliance requirements. Strong understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, pricing, cost management, and resource allocation principles. Ability to analyze complex operational and financial data and make strategic, data-informed decisions. Ability to lead and develop leaders, foster a high-trust culture, and promote accountability and engagement. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across departments, customer groups, vendors, and external partners. Ability to manage multiple priorities and balance long-term planning with operational demands. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing complex print, mail, distribution, production, or related service operations within a large organization. Experience with digital printing, variable-data printing, automated mail-processing systems, mailing software, and document-management technologies. Experience managing vendor contracts and service agreements. Experience leading organizational change initiatives. Experience working in higher education or a similarly complex institutional environment. Knowledge of U.S. Postal Service requirements and industry standards applicable to institutional mail and distribution operations. Knowledge of University budgeting systems, operational processes, and institutional policies. Proficiency in equipment lifecycle planning, production-capacity planning, workflow optimization, and service-planning methodologies. Knowledge of evolving digital print, variable-data, document-management, mailing automation, and production workflow technologies. G7 Expert Certification. Mail Systems Management Association ( MSMA ) Certification. Print Production Professional Certification ( CPP ). Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Manager ( CMDSM ) or comparable industry credential. Certified Print Manager ( CPM ). LEAN Six Sigma Certification.
