Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Services, the Director oversees a team of specialists responsible for faculty development, student learning support, and undergraduate and graduate English training. The Director is accountable for the coherence, quality, and continuous improvement of all TLC programs and services, and for building a team culture defined by collaboration, professionalism, and evidence-based practice.
This is a leadership role first. - Directly supervise and support the TLC team, including the Teacher Education Specialist, Learning Support Coordinator, and Head of English Programs, through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and professional development planning.
- Ensure coherent integration across TLC functions so that faculty development, student support, and English training operate as a unified department rather than independent silos.
- Manage the TLC budget, allocating resources effectively and reporting to the VP for Academic Services on expenditure and outcomes.
- Represent the TLC at the senior leadership level, contributing to university-wide planning, policy development, and accreditation processes.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with academic departments, Student Affairs, HR, and external partners including schools, professional bodies, and accreditation agencies.
- Lead the TLC's quality assurance and program evaluation processes, using data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in higher education teaching and learning, and provide informed guidance to university leadership.
- Maintain an active but limited teaching presence, contributing up to 3 contact hours per week.

- A master's degree in education, instructional design, applied linguistics, or a closely related field is required. A doctorate is preferred.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in higher education, with demonstrated progression into leadership or management responsibilities.
- Proven experience leading or coordinating a team, including performance management and professional development.
- A strong track record in at least one of the TLC's core areas: faculty development, student learning support, or English language education.
- Familiarity with accreditation standards and quality assurance processes relevant to higher education.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including the ability to set clear expectations, give constructive feedback, and develop staff.
