We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic part time (0.5 FTE) Disability Advisor to join the Disability Service. This is a maternity cover post for 12 months fixed-term, or until the return of the substantive role holder.
About the role
The Disability Service provides advice and support to a diverse range of students with disabilities and long-term health conditions. As a Disability Advisor, you’ll manage a caseload of students — often with complex support requirements — and provide advice and guidance from pre-application through to graduation. We aim to deliver a service which enhances the quality of the student experience.
You’ll also work closely with academic and professional staff across the University, deliver disability awareness and inclusive practice training, and liaise with external agencies such as assessors, support providers, and funding bodies. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
About you
You will have:
- Proven experience supporting individuals with disabilities, ideally in an education or advisory setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and professionalism
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and complex caseload
- A collaborative, flexible approach and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Experience with case management systems, data handling, and a working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., the Equality Act 2010) would be an advantage.
