Minimum Qualifications
- Earned nursing-related doctoral degree from an accredited institution by the time of appointment
- One graduate degree must be in nursing (master's or doctorate)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as nurse practitioner
- National certification as a nurse practitioner
- Candidates who are ABD may be considered but must complete the doctorate by July 31, 2026

Preferred Qualifications
- Earned Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree
- National certification as a family nurse practitioner (FNP)
License/Certification Required
- Possess or be eligible for current registered nurse license and hold or be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in North Carolina
- Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing's requirements for nurse educators within 3 years of employment
Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Nursing has around 560 students, including pre-licensure BSN, online RN to BSN, and online MSN programs with a concentration in nursing education. The BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Department is developing a new DNP Nurse Practitioner program to begin in fall of 2026. Learn more at https://nursing.appstate.edu. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This is for one or more Open Rank (Tenure-Track or Clinical Track) Faculty positions. The purpose is to provide instruction in the DNP FNP program, including teaching in classroom, clinical settings, simulation, or online. Responsibilities include collaboration with colleagues and students, maintaining curriculum quality, contributing to accreditation and program evaluation, student recruitment, admissions, progression, and advisement. Faculty are expected to contribute to teaching, practice, scholarship, and service. This position is housed on the Hickory Campus.
