Doctor of Medical Science Faculty
Doctor of Medical Science faculty will be directly responsible for teaching, mentoring, and scientific scholarship within the Doctor of Medical Science Program
Required Qualifications
D.O., M.D. or DMS/DMSc degree; Board certification
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years experience in clinical/academic medicine teaching and leadership
Job Duties
- promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students
- establish curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction as part of the medical education process;
- contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of courses and academic programs within the Doctor of Medical Sciences program
- maintain intellectual integrity and to strive for academic excellence in his/her teaching;
- demonstrate adequate standards of professional linguistic expression in writing and speech;
- develop objectives for lectures, courses or laboratory exercises
- carry out lecture, seminar, small group discussion and/or clinical assignments and responsibilities effectively;
- design and/or direct a course and/or series of integrated lectures and/or small group discussions;
- prepare examination questions for materials taught and grade related course materials;
- meet classes according to published schedule;
- commit to working in a professional multicultural environment that fosters diversity;
- provide service by attending scheduled faculty meetings and by serving on appointed and or elected committees as required;
- work, as needed, with the program director on curricular matters;
- serve as an active member of the department, working closely with the department to further the department and College mission and vision;
- work with the marketing committee on advertisements and increasing social media presence;
- complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites
- serve as an example to learners and colleagues of appropriate professional behavior;
- participate in scholarly activity;
- serve as mentor to students on their scholarly projects;
- participate in required on-campus activities as determined by the Program Director;
- travel for recruiting/exhibiting at conferences as assigned;
- develop, review, and revise as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program;
- select applicants for admission to the program;
- provide learner instruction;
- evaluate learner performance;
- academically counsel learners;
- design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the curriculum;
- evaluate the program
- perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
