Overview
This Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme in Mathematics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology provides a broad background in mathematics and mathematical sciences. Students can choose to focus their research in one of the three areas: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Probability and Statistics.
A candidate for a PhD degree is expected to demonstrate mastery of knowledge in the chosen discipline and to synthesize and create new knowledge, making an original and substantial contribution to the discipline.

On successful completion of the PhD in Mathematics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, graduates will be able to:
