Your role

The successful candidate will join the SEDAN research group to work on the ReNERT project. This project is a collaboration with the Luxembourg Armed Forces. The PhD candidate will investigate how Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Generative AI (GenAI), can be leveraged to support the effective mitigation of cyber-threats.

The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct research on optimising retrieval-augmented LLM systems to identify and categorise sensitive information from diverse OSINT sources
  • Develop an on-premise, retrieval-augmented LLM solution that transforms diverse data sources into concise, actionable reports
  • Contribute to the implementation of a continuous monitoring platform that integrates with MISP for standardised threat intelligence sharing
  • Participate in project reporting, dissemination of results, and meetings with our project partner

Your profile

A Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field. The ideal candidate should have knowledge and/or experience in one or several of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning algorithms and architectures, Cybersecurity, Strong programming skills. The following qualifications are considered a bonus: Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI, Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration like Docker and Kubernetes, Knowledge of Linux environments. A motivated candidate who can work independently and is proactive in solving problems. Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Knowledge of French, German, or Luxembourgish will be appreciated but is not a requirement. Due to the specific requirements and constraints of the project, we are only able to consider applicants from NATO member countries or NATO partner nations.
