Your role

Successful candidates will make an important contribution to several exciting research projects, most notably, to the Electromobility Charging Solutions for Local and Cross-Border Commuters in Luxembourg and Beyond research project (e-CoLux). E-CoLux is a project funded by the Luxembourg Research Fund (FNR). Based on three key innovations: (1) a focus on distinct EV commuter archetypes (e.g., work vs. non-work commuters), (2) explicit inclusion of cross-border commuting patterns, and (3) a dynamic link between infrastructure deployment and tariff design, e-CoLux aims to develop a data-driven decision support system that enables effective infrastructure deployment and tariff design, tailored to (1) and (2).

Next to e-CoLux, successful candidates will carry out research in the context of Prof. Fridgen's PayPal-FNR PEARL Research Grant in the area of Information Systems Engineering, Energy Economics, and Consumer & Behavioral Research.

In particular, they will be integrated into a larger research team on energy markets and quantitative methods and collaborate with team members employed on similar projects. Successful candidates will thus have the opportunity to investigate a broad range of research areas and design an individual research portfolio. As such, successful candidates will be able to align the skills that they learn by pursuing a doctorate with their personal goals and interests.

Your profile

• Master's degree in Information Systems, Economics, Operations Research, or related fields
• Strong knowledge of quantitative and/or computational research methods, ideally in numerical optimization and simulation models
• Proficiency in one of the major programming languages, such as Python
• Commitment to participate in the design and implementation of high-quality solutions that solve significant problems

Language Requirements:
