Offer Description
Applications are invited for one Doctoral Researcher / MSCA Doctoral Candidate position at EMC Barcelona within the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network iSense – European Doctoral Network on In-Situ Monitoring of Electromagnetic Interference.
The selected candidate will work on the doctoral research subproject “Monitoring electromagnetic emissions from large photovoltaic installations” (DC15). The position focuses on developing innovative test and measurement solutions for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) assessment, with particular emphasis on monitoring, analysing, and interpreting electromagnetic emissions from large-scale photovoltaic systems operating under real installation conditions.
The research will contribute to the development of more agile, flexible, and intelligent EMC assessment methods by combining measurement instrumentation, RF techniques, signal and data processing, and electromagnetic interference analysis. The work will address the practical challenges associated with in situ EMC measurements, in which large installations cannot be easily assessed under conventional laboratory conditions, and the surrounding electromagnetic environment plays a significant role in interpreting the results.
The Doctoral Researcher will join EMC Barcelona’s research and development activities in test and measurement technologies. The work will involve experimental measurements, data analysis, development and validation of monitoring methodologies, and collaboration with academic and industrial partners within the iSense network. The position may also involve meetings with international partners and limited travel for secondments, training activities, workshops and conferences.
The selected candidate will be employed full-time by EMC Barcelona and enrolled as a doctoral candidate at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, subject to admission. The candidate will benefit from the iSense training programme, which includes scientific training, transferable skills activities, secondments, and participation in network-wide events.
The gross remuneration will follow the rules of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks, including the living allowance and mobility allowance, and, where applicable, family allowance. The net amount will depend on Spanish tax and social security regulations, as well as the candidate’s personal situation.
Applicants must comply with the MSCA Doctoral Candidate eligibility rules, including doctoral candidate status, the mobility rule, and English-language proficiency. At the recruitment date, applicants must not already hold a doctoral degree and must hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification that provides access to doctoral studies in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Applications must be submitted by email to info@emc-barcelona.com and must include a detailed CV, preferably in Europass format, a motivation letter, and transcripts of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Applicants must also provide sufficient information to verify compliance with the MSCA eligibility criteria.
The application deadline is September 30, 2026. Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. If preselected, candidates will be contacted by EMC Barcelona representatives for an interview.
