The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science is seeking a full-time doctoral scholarship holder in the field of Chemistry.
Position
- You will work actively on the preparation and defense of a PhD thesis in the field of chemistry.
- You will perform research and publish scientific articles related to the research project.
- You will carry out teaching, research, and service support tasks for the Department of Chemistry.
Profile
- You hold an academic Master degree in Chemistry, Bio-engineering, Applied Sciences (engineering), or Civil Engineering with a specialization in chemistry. Candidates obtaining their degree by the appointment date can apply.
- You demonstrate excellent study results.
- Your teaching competences align with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision (link).
- Your research qualities align with the faculty and university research policies (link) and the Department of Chemistry.
- You are motivated, committed to a doctoral project, and willing to apply for external funding (e.g., FWO fellowships 2026).
- You communicate fluently in English and Dutch.
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation.
- You show interest in the research of one of the research groups in the Chemistry department.
What We Offer
- A doctoral scholarship for one year, starting 1 January 2026 or as soon as possible after.
- Monthly scholarship amount calculated according to university scales.
- Ecocheques, internet-connectivity allowance, and bicycle allowance or full reimbursement of public transport costs.
