Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Dreamscape Learn (DSL) at Montclair State University, the Dreamscape Learn Pod Coordinator coordinates the operational use and deployment of the Dreamscape Learn Studio, ensuring users have safe and meaningful learning experiences and optimizing studio operations. The Pod Operations Coordinator works collaboratively with members of the Dreamscape Learn team, notably the Director, as well as faculty, staff, and student users of the Studio.
The Pod Operations Coordinator plays a critical role in delivering immersive Dreamscape Learn experiences to the student population while supporting operational excellence and delivering outstanding customer service.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating daily operations of Dreamscape Learn immersive spaces, ensuring impactful and engaging learning experiences.
- Recruit, hire, train, mentor, supervise, schedule, and coach a team of student employee operators.
- Provide guests with historical context on Dreamscape Learn and guide them through the VR experience from start to finish.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring all guests have a positive and memorable experience.
- Serve as the lead in checking users into their experiences, ensuring equipment is functioning correctly, overseeing each session, and managing equipment during and in between learning sessions.
- Troubleshoot VR equipment issues and escalate to the DSL Technical Support Help Desk when needed.
- Replace defective hardware and manage the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process with external vendors.
- Conduct regular testing, maintenance, and calibration of Dreamscape Learn VR pods and related equipment.
- Assist students and faculty in leveraging Dreamscape Learn technology for VR development projects and other academic initiatives.
- Maintain the Dreamscape Learn scheduling system, ensuring efficient utilization and throughput.
- Oversee facility operations, ensuring proper opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain adherence to cleaning and safety protocols in alignment with university standards.
- Maintain current knowledge in technological aspects of Dreamscape VR
- Develop and conduct training and materials for students, faculty and staff.
- Collaborate with Broadcast and Media Operations throughout the year on select projects and at designated times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in media, education, technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in operations, customer service, academic support, or a technology-enabled environment
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse student, faculty, and guest populations
- Experience coordinating schedules, managing logistics, or overseeing daily operations in a fast-paced environment
- Technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot hardware/software issues in real time
- Ability to learn and operate virtual reality (VR) systems and related technologies
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to enforce safety, operational, and facility protocols consistently and professionally
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings or weekends, based on academic scheduling needs
PREFERRED:
- Prior experience working with virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), gaming systems, or immersive technologies
- Experience in a university lab, studio, experiential learning environment, or similar setting
- Demonstrated experience supervising, training, or mentoring staff, student employees, or teams
- Familiarity with scheduling systems, ticketing systems, or lab/resource management platforms
- Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance, inventory management, and vendor coordination (e.g., RMAs)
- Demonstrated ability to handle high-volume user environments while maintaining quality service
- Interest in immersive learning, experiential education, or innovation in higher education
- Experience collecting feedback or basic data to improve operations and user experience

Salary Range
$63,833.23-$79,804.49 Annually
