Job Description
Energy4Water (E4W) at UM6P invites applications for a full-time permanent faculty position (Assistant/Associate Professor) in Renewable Energy Systems, Water Harvesting Technologies, and Condensation and Sorption Processes.
The successful candidate is expected to develop and lead a high-impact research program integrating renewable energy systems, advanced water technologies, functional materials, and intelligent sensing and control systems. The faculty member will contribute to experimental and modeling activities involving sorption and condensation technologies, solar thermal integration, advanced adsorbent materials (including Metal–Organic Frameworks (MoFs)), and performance optimization of water harvesting technologies across different climatic contexts.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Undertake original research of international excellence in renewable energy-powered water harvesting systems.
- Design and model advanced systems based on condensation, sorption, or hybrid thermal processes using solar and alternative energy sources.
- Conduct laboratory investigations and field trials to assess the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of water harvesting technologies across various environmental conditions.
- Analyze material–system interactions, particularly the performance of advanced adsorbents (including Metal–Organic Frameworks (MoFs)), thermal interfaces, and engineered condensation surfaces under varied operating scenarios.
- Develop and refine performance simulation models and predictive tools to support system optimization and deployment strategies.
- Prepare high-quality scientific publications and disseminate research outcomes through leading journals and international conferences.
- Develop research objectives and technical proposals aligned with the priorities of the E4W initiative.
- Engage actively with academic, industrial, and institutional partners to translate research into real-world applications.
- Mentor and supervise MSc, PhD students and postdocs and contribute to the teaching activities related to renewable energy systems and water technologies.
- Contribute to the academic and scientific life of UM6P.
Candidate Criteria
- PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Significant publication record in peer-reviewed international journals.
- Demonstrated expertise in sorption processes, condensation systems, renewable energy integration, and/or advanced adsorbent materials such as MoFs.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in teaching and supervision or co-supervision of graduate students.
- Excellent communication skills in English; French is an asset.
Application and Selection
Applicants should submit:
- Detailed CV,
- Cover letter along with a synthetic presentation of the background, research works, projects and activities, publications, key achievements,
- Research and teaching plans, entrepreneurial ideas and concepts if any, and services to UM6P community: max 3-4 pages,
- 3 to 5 reference letters.
