Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi – About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Early Childhood educator to join Ara’s Early Childhood Education portfolio. This is your opportunity to share your knowledge and support future kaiako to build strong foundations for careers in ECE while contributing to a future-focused, inclusive learning environment.
You’ll deliver and support programmes across Levels 3–5, helping learners develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for early childhood settings and further study.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging, learner-centred teaching and assessment
- Supporting ākonga with diverse learning and literacy needs
- Embedding te reo Māori and tikanga Māori in your teaching practice
- Contributing to programme development and continuous improvement
- Supporting students in building reflective, professional identities
- Engaging with industry and supporting student placements
Ngā Pūkenga Me Ngā Wheako – Skills and Experience
You’ll bring:
- An ECE teaching qualification and current teacher registration
- Recent experience in early childhood education settings
- Knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations and sector practice
- A strong commitment to bicultural practice and culturally responsive teaching
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to support learner success and academic development
- A relevant degree is required, and a tertiary teaching qualification (or willingness to complete one) is expected.
