About the role
The primary purpose of Early Childhood Teacher roles are to provide a warm and caring environment for all of the children in the centre along with providing a stimulating and educational environment in which they will learn through play. The Early Childhood Teacher will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the assigned room, including providing leadership and support to educators within your team and educators across the service in line with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. This position involves the care of children aged 8 weeks to 5 years and includes the understanding and implementation of the NQF and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) into daily practice. Within this will be leadership, management supervision, and mentoring of staff in a team environment. This position reports to the Director and operates under their general direction.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a degree in Early Childhood (approved by ACECQA), current NSW Teacher Accreditation and extensive experience with children aged 0-5 years, preferably in long day care or centre based care. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and excellent knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and/or My Time Our Place, Education and Care Services National Law, Education and Care Services National Regulations, and the National Quality Framework.
About the Department
The Yarm Gwanga Preschool / Early Learning Centre and the Yarm Gwanga Vacation Care Service are the University's approved child care centres, providing child care services for the University and the wider local community. The Centre offers education and care services and programs within the National Quality Framework (NQF) and operates within a strict set of regulations contained within the Education and Care Services National Law. Yarm Gwanga is a long day care centre, employing approximately 20 appropriately qualified staff, and is licensed to care for 106 children between the ages of 8 weeks and 12 years.
