Your next career opportunity

The University of Melbourne Queensberry Children’s Centre offers high quality early childhood care and education to children aged 3 months to school age with funded 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten programs. You'll work as part of a dynamic team, providing mentorship and pedagogical leadership to other educators. Your role will involve communicating effectively with parents about their children's progress and delivering kindergarten programs for children in the two years before they start school as well as supporting the program delivery in an under 3 year old group.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and Implement Exemplary curriculum: Create and deliver developmentally appropriate education programs adhering to national frameworks and contemporary early childhood practices.
  • Provide Leadership and Mentoring: Supervise and guide other educators, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Conduct Assessments and Reporting: Undertake regular developmental assessments, conduct parent-teacher interviews, and complete required reports and statements.
  • Ensure Compliance and Quality: Adhere to National Quality Standards, relevant legislation, and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a passionate early childhood teacher with an approved teaching degree, current VIT registration, and a strong commitment to children's holistic development and learning.

You may also:

  • Hold an approved early childhood teaching degree or higher qualification recognised by ACECQA.
  • Possess current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration.
  • Have a valid Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate (HLTAID012).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, including National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Frameworks.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Show a commitment to continuous improvement and reflective practice in early childhood education.

Your new team – Student And Scholarly Services

Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

Early Childhood Education Services sits within Student and Scholarly Services at The University of Melbourne, comprising the Early Learning Centre, Abbotsford (90 places daily), Queensberry Children’s Centre (96 places daily) and Swanston Street Children’s Centre (41 places daily). These Centre’s provide early childhood education for approximately 350 children aged 6 months to five years from the University and the surrounding community. The Centre’s operate for a minimum of 48 weeks per year and are open for 10 hours per day. The early childhood education staff team is comprised of approximately 60 staff working either full-time or part-time across the three Centre’s.
