Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, Student Success, the Early College Outreach Specialist is responsible for collaborating with high school faculty and administrators across multiple school districts alongside MVCC’s academic and student development divisions to educate students on dual credit/enrollment course selection and transitioning to college. The Early College Outreach Specialist is dedicated to the learning college concepts by coordinating programs and supporting activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist the Assistant Dean, Student Success with the recruitment, registration, and retention of high school students taking early college courses at MVCC.
- Provide guided academic pathways coaching for dual credit students: assist students with questions regarding course selection and transferability and assist with interpretation of placement test scores.
- Inform students about campus resources available to dual credit/enrollment students. Refer students to available resources.
- Plan and deliver presentations to students and families at district high schools, college fairs, and on campus events to support and promote dual credit/enrollment.
- Provide outreach and support to high school counselors relative to college advising, dual credit course selection, and student support.
- Work alongside the coordinators of MACS Partnership to ensure high school counselors are informed about MVCC dual credit curriculum, pathways opportunities, and dual credit policy and procedures.
- Collaborate across various college departments, including working with MVCC faculty, to enhance dual credit student advising and recruitment.
- Assist high schools with the enrollment process for dual credit/enrollment and students transitioning to MVCC after high school graduation.
- Attend scheduled evening and weekend events; be available to travel within the community college district.
- Acquire expertise of the college catalog, college programs, and college policies and procedures.
- Maintain familiarity with school districts’ course offerings and districts’ policies and procedures for dual credit students.
- Remain current on advising best practices, statewide and national P-20 initiatives, and the IL Dual Credit Quality Act.
Education/Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Management, Student Personnel Services, or related areas. At least two (2) years of experience in higher education or high school environment required. Please ensure you list qualifications/experiences in your resume and application.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to pursue several projects simultaneously with quality results.
- Possess strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively with different levels of staff within the organization.
- Knowledge or experience with conducting group presentations, such as workshops and/or training.
- Ability to relate to a variety of student populations and learners.
- Knowledge or experience with college-level first-year transition programming, including Orientation/On-line, and class curriculum.
- Demonstrated dedication to students, commitment to excellence in creating and providing student support services and ensuring student success.
- Travel Valid Driver’s License; occasional travel to schools.

General Hours Monday – Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm Some evening and weekend hours may be needed to support programming/events
Salary/Wage:
$54,160-$72,198 (plus exceptional benefits)
