Auburn University manages the Harris Early Learning Center in Birmingham, Alabama, and we're looking for someone like you to join our vibrant and supportive team in our state-of-the-art accredited preschool facility for over 200 children ranging in age from six weeks to five years old!

Our Teachers are critical to our success at Harris Early Learning Center! In this role, you will have the important opportunity to plan, create, and implement daily programs for preschool learning environments. Each classroom is staffed with two full-time Teachers, and we have 16 classrooms at the Center.

State of Alabama Teacher Salary Matrix

Salaries are determined by level of education and years of experience.

High School Diploma: $32,000 - $40,000

Associate's Degree: $34,200 - $42,000

Bachelor's Degree: $36,200 - $44,000

Master's Degree: $38,200 - $46,000

Teachers are paid bi-weekly, and are classified as non-exempt by the Fair Labor Standards Act.

This is a one-year limited-term appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.

Essential Functions

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Develop and implement a child-centered curriculum in line with early childhood education best practices and NAEYC accreditation standards.
  • Guide children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth through safe and structured environments.
  • Design, execute, and assess daily programs, including classroom setup and engaging activities to promote active learning.
  • Instruct and evaluate daily programs, ensuring optimal learning experiences for children.
  • Model effective teaching practices for undergraduate students during their coursework or internships.
  • Collaborate with community professionals, such as therapists and psychologists, as needed. May administer prescribed medication.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, providing updates on their child's progress.

Minimum Qualifications

What We Need From You:

High school diploma or equivalent with no experience.

If selected you will be required to obtain a CPR/First Aid Certificate within 60 days of hire, and a TB Skin Test.

Minimum License and Certifications

CPR/First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain within 60 days of date of hire; TB Skin Test.

Salary Range: $32,000 - $46,000. Annual salaries are based on the matrix in the Job Summary section of this posting.
