Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure?: NoOffer Description
As part of the project REWIRE – REmanufacturing with smart robotics for WIde-scale Redeployment, funded by EU Horizon, applications are invited for an Early-Stage Researcher position in the area of designing and implementing a digital platform for supporting remanufacturing operations using robots. The position is hosted by University College Dublin. The selected Early-Stage Researcher will pursue their PhD degree within the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at UCD. Additionally, all associated PhD fees are covered directly by the project budget.
One of the primary goals of this project is to develop a high-fidelity digital twin architecture that integrates physics-based simulation, photo-realistic environments, and cyber-physical system (CPS). The architecture will serve as the core infrastructure for process tooling design, process validation, and optimisation. The position will involve significant interaction with other academic, research and industrial organisations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop a high-fidelity digital twin architecture that integrates physics-based simulation, photo-realistic environments, and cyber-physical systems.
- Carry out a series of tests in cooperation with the project partners to ensure that the technical specifications of the developed platform are met.
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of technical deliverables.
- Represent UCD in technical and review meetings.
- Support the dissemination and exploitation activities of the project including technical presentations in international conferences.
- Support the preparation of new research proposal initiatives.
