Features
Although the primary emphasis at Yale University is on these East Asian Languages and Literatures subjects, the department welcomes applicants who are seeking to integrate their interests in Chinese or Japanese literature with interdisciplinary studies in such fields as history, history of art, linguistics, religious studies, comparative literature, film studies, literary theory and criticism, and the social sciences.

- There are no set English test minimums for admission, but incoming doctoral students who received a score of 25 or below on the TOEFL Speaking section are required to participate in a Summer English Language program at Yale in August prior to matriculation.
