Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated ECC Veterinary Assistant to support our clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the ICU/ECC (Emergency Critical Care) sections of our Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our emergency services and in delivering top-notch care to our animal patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and organized environment by performing cleaning and stocking duties.
- Provide basic care for animal patients, including walking dogs.
- Manage ward and treatment room operations, focusing on infection control and isolation management.
- Assist clinicians with receiving, triaging, and admitting emergency patients.
- Support critical care nursing procedures in the ICU.
- Administer treatments and medications as directed by clinical faculty.
- Instruct senior veterinary students in technical and manipulative skills related to ICU/Critical Care.
- Facilitating client communications and phone inquiries
- Assisting with payment collection and financial discussions

Required Qualifications
- Experience in a veterinary medical setting, preferably in emergency/intensive care.
- Strong knowledge of basic nursing skills and CPR.
- Ability to assist with advanced veterinary technician skills such as central venous line placement, urinary catheterization, and monitoring blood transfusions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Enrollment in or interest in enrolling in a veterinary technician program, with tuition reimbursement opportunities available.
