FortranFuture is a three-year, EPSRC-funded Network+ collaboration between investigators at Queen’s University Belfast (the lead institution) and University of Southampton, complemented by an independent Advisory Board, and working with a wide range of national and international partner institutions, a growing community of practitioners and growing network of researchers.
The Ecosystem Lead will make an instrumental contribution to FortranFuture’s work on bringing together the global ecosystem, fore-sighting possible futures for the ecosystem, roadmapping expected opportunities and challenges, and establishing a sustainable community and research network for beyond the funded life-time of the project, as well as contributing (where appropriate) to the strategic oversight and allocation of approx. £450K flexible funding and securing future funding. The Ecosystem Lead will work closely with the Project Lead and Co-lead, other research colleagues, the project manager and other professional services (e.g., in the Centre for Intelligent Sustainable Computing and the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and with the Accountability and Advisory Board.
This is a part time post, working 0.6 FTE.
About The Person
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Hold a PhD (and/or relevant professional qualification, formal training or demonstrably equivalent professional experience) in a relevant professional or research area, e.g., systems thinking (broadly defined), meta-science, policy, scenario planning, future studies.
- Have substantial relevant experience of successfully networking and building relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, at national and international level (and preferably including computational scientists and research technical professionals, industry and commerce, government departments and agencies, and business and public bodies) to deliver, influence and impact organisational strategy.
- Have experience of building, growing or coordinating a community, network or membership base, and of organising strategic events and engagement activities.

This post is available until 31 August 2029. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
