About the Opportunity
Kalamazoo Valley is seeking an experienced instructor in Early Childhood Education to fill a full-time, tenure-track position. Individuals should be familiar with a variety of instructional strategies and have an understanding of the community college ethos. In addition, candidates should possess experience with curriculum development and a willingness to collaborate across divisions.
Applications are invited from interested candidates who value and engage in high-quality, student-centered instruction. Duties will include teaching early childhood education courses, assisting in developing curriculum and participating in and leading departmental and college activities that support initiatives related to enrollment management, retention, student engagement and student success. Teaching assignments include a variety of day and evening courses. The position also includes opportunities for educational assessments, professional growth and enrichment. Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to embrace teamwork as they develop or redesign courses to meet student, transfer and workforce needs. Current needs are with the development and execution of our new Early Childhood Education (ECE) pathway which includes recruiting students, planning for program needs including internships and teaching classes in ECE.
This position is anticipated to start Fall 2026.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education, Early Literacy or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or Special Education.
- ZN, ZS, ZO, or ZA endorsements are required.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience, preferrable in an early learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- 6 years of professional experience in an early learning environment, part of that being program administration.
- Experience teaching adult learners.
Work Hours: Work hours are determined based upon classes taught and may vary.
