Education Program Specialist-Evaluation and Assessment

The Office of Evaluation and Assessment works in collaboration with the Director of Evaluation and Assessment and Academic Program Directors to provide collaborative leadership in the development of learning assessments for the Lead.Serve.Inspire (LSI) curriculum at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. The Evaluation and Assessment team supports over 900 medical students as they progress through the curriculum and is responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of all student assessments.
The Education Program Specialist serves as the Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) Program Coordinator for Evaluation and Assessment for the Department of Biomedical Education in the College of Medicine. The coordinator, under the direction of the Evaluation and Assessment Program Manager and the faculty director for Evaluation and Assessment, works to manage all evaluation and assessment programs benefiting 800+ medical students, all academic parts in the MD Curriculum. Specifically, this role is responsible for the OSCEs that run throughout the medical education curriculum.
The OSCE Program Coordinator works closely with the Program Manager to implement programs, policies, and procedures related to clinical assessments. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating with course administrators to support clinical evaluation activities.
- Organizing and leading Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), including serving as Chief Proctor.
- Recruiting and training staff to ensure smooth exam flow and proper monitoring.
- Managing OSCE rating tools, checklists, and clinical evaluation systems (e.g., Clinical Performance Evaluations, Direct Observation of Competence tools), using appropriate technologies.
- Supporting faculty and Standardized Patient (SP) training related to evaluation and assessment tools.
- Tracking and reporting data on clinical assessments and performance.
- Developing reporting systems that allow educational leaders to make informed decisions based on performance data.
- Assisting course, program, and departmental administrators with evaluation and assessment training.
- Supporting the Evaluation and Assessment Team in testing, evaluation, and assessment activities.
- Collaborating with internal teams including Associate Deans, Clinical Skills Education and Assessment Center, Clinical Sites, IT, and others to implement and manage evaluation services that support LCME accreditation, educational innovation, and faculty development.
- Liaising with external consultants, vendors, and organizations such as the AAMC.
- This student-facing position requires in-person engagement and on-campus presence to effectively support learners.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in business administration
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in program planning and administration is required, preferably in an academic setting related to undergraduate or graduate medical education; experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with higher education and/or medical education. Experience with students and faculty in a higher education setting. Background using technology to complete projects. Experience managing information in web-based software applications, knowledgeable about evaluation, assessment, and data management desired; strengths in productivity and efficiency desired.
