Educational Advocate – TRiO Upward Bound South

POSITION SUMMARY

The Educational Advocate is responsible for developing and implementing participant educational plans. This includes coordinating all aspects of the Educational Advocate role and working collectively with other related partnership programs as needed. This position assists in the evaluating, planning, and coordinating of participant plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Report to the Director of Upward Bound South.
Assist the Director with preparations and negotiations of the Upward Bound South Program.
Assist the Director with all program administration for Upward Bound South in compliance with EDGAR in preparation of Annual Performance Report (APR).
Assist with all proofing of documents.
Serve in other capacities as directed by the Director of the program.
Assist with all plans and implementations of seminars for Upward Bound South.
Data entry, assist in assessment process, group counseling sessions.
Travel for professional development when necessary.
Maintain participant’s records, provide tutoring, if necessary, provide supervision at workshops and other activities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, Education, or related field from an accredited university.
Experience in working with secondary school students and knowledge of the essential elements used in the public-school systems.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethics in data collection and analysis.
Commitment to the advancement of socially, economically, and educationally deprived populations.
Willing to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Work experience in TRiO programs.

COMPENSATION: $30,000 - $37,000

TYPE: Full-time
