EDUCATIONAL NURSE COORDINATOR (Central Staffing Resource, Adult Telemetry Cluster)
The Central Staffing Resource (CSR) department is a cornerstone of quality nursing care and operational responsiveness across our health system. CSR provides supplemental staffing support to inpatient and specialty areas across the medical campus, ensuring safe, flexible, and high quality care delivery.
We are seeking a professional and dedicated Educational Nurse Coordinator to join our CSR leadership team. This Adult Telemetry Cluster ENC position will also support education for the CSR Adult General Care Cluster. This role plays a vital part in supporting nursing and ancillary staff, coordinating educational new employee orientation and facilitating employee ongoing education with the goal to promote professional growth, sound clinical practice and exceptional patient outcomes.
To develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate the CSR Adult ATC and AGC cluster new employee orientation program. To identify CSR staff’s ongoing staff educational needs and facilitate educational opportunities to meet identified needs. To partner with inpatient units to support educational initiatives. To provide, and coordinate nursing focused institutional educational initiatives for CSR staff. To design and implement staff development plans. These activities are done in collaboration with the CSR Nursing Leadership Team and the Nursing Services Senior Director. To demonstrate clinical nursing role through role direct patient care, modeling, and consultation to nursing and other members of the health care team. Participate in hospital-wide committees and partner to lead CSR Unit Based Committee.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop, coordinate, execute, evaluate, and update nursing and tech orientation for the CSR ATC and AGC clusters.
- Develop, educate, and evaluate CSR preceptors.
- Coordination of multidisciplinary, interdepartmental orientation experiences.
- Identify staff’s on-going educational requirements and facilitate continuing education as appropriate
- Conduct individualized and group learning programs for nursing and tech staff based on needs assessments and monitoring of the inpatient unit’s clinical patient care standards and outcomes.
- Assist in the design and implementation of staff developmental plans with respect to education.
- Facilitate the completion of department based and institutional mandatory education and/or regulatory requirements.
- Actively participate in CSR Nursing Leadership Team, research, CQI and facility wide educational groups.
- Maintain accurate documentation in hospital records and other databases.
- Partner and actively participate in CSR unit-based council.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of 2 years recent Telemetry experience
- Current experience coordinating staff education and teaching experience within a variety of settings (formal, informal, groups, 1:1 etc)

Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Current CCRN, ACLS, CALS certification
- Two or more years of experience in an adult telemetry unit or ICU.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change, direct nursing practice, prioritize, problem solve, evaluate outcomes and delegate as evidenced by previous employment experience.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills as evidenced by excellence in verbal and written communication skills among shifts, positive and professional attitude, and ability to provide direct and effective feedback Demonstrated excellent organizational, and leadership skills including working with a team.
- Demonstrated excellent clinical patient care skills and problem solving skills. Demonstrated unit and committee involvement with evidence of accepting increasing responsibilities as evidenced by two or more years in the Charge Nurse Role, two or more years of teaching skills including two years' preceptor experience.
- Demonstrated ability to model and promote positive, constructive, and professional relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work with others in assessing, designing and implementing innovative educational programs.
- Demonstrated ability to create and support an environment characterized by safe discussion, constructive feedback, conflict resolution and direct communication.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change, develop creative solutions, prioritize, problem solve, and evaluate outcomes.
- Track record of active involvement and leadership in unit and institutional teams.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership experience with demonstrated knowledge of adult learning concepts and the nursing developmental model.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize an evidenced based data driven approach to facilitate/create change at the bedside
- Demonstrated interest/involvement in patient/staff quality and safety
- Demonstrated ability to produce quality academic work (ie:abstacts, posters and formal presentations)
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with nursing leadership to resolve clinical and operational issues
Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as: ENC- COMPETENT.
Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from ENC-COMPETENT to ENC-EXPERT TO ENC-MASTERY
Work Schedule:
Hours/Week: 40 hours
Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift with occasional off shift rotation when needed, hours may vary, must be flexible to accommodate needs of the department unit, may have a staffing component up to 0.25 fte in clinical staffing (based on dept need vs staffing demand).
Location: Med-Inn, Central Staffing Resource Department
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
