Job Description

As an Educational Opportunity Program Counselor, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintain a counseling caseload of students between 50-75 as instructed by Director
  • Monitor the academic and financial progress and compliance of EOP students
  • Serve as an advocate for EOP students through the onboarding process with open communication and collaboration between specific offices such as Admissions and Financial Aid
  • Serve as a resource to the faculty and academic advisors
  • Assist Director and fellow EOP counselor with Peer Mentor program including interviewing and training process
  • Report student issues and concerns during weekly staff meetings
  • Assist in the development assessment objectives, outcomes, and findings in WEAVE
  • Assist in developing, supporting, and identifying student leadership opportunities for EOP students.
  • Maintain knowledge of technology including BANNER to assist students in the completion of needed documentation including Financial Aid and such
  • Educate and prepare students for the Advisement and Course Registration Process
  • Assisted Director in the development of academic support services and initiatives.
  • Provide office coverage in the absence of the Director
  • Attend Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, Orientation, and Recruitment Events as needed
  • EOP Summer Program coverage end of July to end of August-4 week commitment including nights and weekends
  • Design and Develop the Summer Production Schedule and calendar with assistance from the Director and fellow counselor
  • Construct the Peer mentor program including marketing, application and interviewing processes, training, and oversight of students during Summer Academy.
  • Create and maintain internal communication platforms on campus including ENGAGE, EOP Brightspace page, CASE and EOP Newsletter, and Bulletin Boards related to the program.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred. Preference will be given to candidates whose education and experience are in the human services or related field. One to two years human services experience preferred. Experience working with diverse student population.

Additional Information

This is an SL-3 position, with a salary range of $55,000 - $57,000. This is a temporary appointment, with the possibility of transitioning to a term appointment. This position offers full New York State benefits which are some of the most comprehensive in the country.
