Role Introduction/ About the Role:
The Role: Electrical Engineer, Cavendish Estate.
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Engineer to join our on-site Estates team. This hands-on role is vital to ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and improvement of our departmental facilities. You'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks including repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance across our buildings and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair faults in heating, ventilation, cooling systems, and other departmental plant and equipment.
- Monitor and respond to issues identified via the Building Management System (BMS), liaising with Estates and the Building Services Manager as needed.
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer and Estates guidelines.
- Undertake minor refurbishments and improvements to rooms, including layout changes and installation of fixtures and fittings.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including fire alarm system testing and safety documentation.
- Install and test electrical services in accordance with current IEE regulations, supporting refurbishment projects across various facilities.
- Connect & disconnect services in lab environments.
- Where required, undertake fault diagnostic work and rectification works.
- Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and routine electrical inspections, recording outcomes and performing necessary repairs.
About you:
- Relevant, current, and demonstrable experience in a similar role or level.
- A-level standard of education, NVQ Level 3 vocational qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with both traditional and modern maintenance techniques.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated understanding of principles, processes, and concepts related to Building Services.
- Qualified to the current standard on the wiring regulations, this must be evidenced.
- Hold a clean and valid driving licence.
Please be aware that a Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role (a full EU Driving Licence is acceptable on appointment, but the successful applicant must transfer to a UK Licence prior to confirming a start date).
