Duties and Responsibilities
The Electrical Technology instructional lab technician is responsible for technical and clerical duties required to support the instructional mission of the Electrical Technology discipline in the Industrial and Electronic Technologies Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists instructors in training students in the proper use of electrical tools, equipment, and systems during lab hours.
- Serves as a tutoring resource for students enrolled in departmental Electrical Technology classes.
- Monitors all Electrical Technology labs to ensure that systems, tools, and associated equipment are secure and properly maintained.
- Serves as the primary resource for students in resolving equipment-related issues arising from lab activities.
- Ensures that all teaching and testing materials are available for class use.
- Assists the chairperson in ensuring that tutors are kept up to date on course content and materials.
- Ensures that all correspondence is properly filed and that departmental administrative files are accurately maintained.
- Types outgoing correspondence, exams, and other instructional materials as needed.
- Maintains a high standard of instructional support and helps ensure the security and proper care of all electrical lab equipment.
- Collaborates with faculty and technical staff to prepare and support lab environments that align with instructional needs.
- Tracks lab inventory, monitors equipment usage, and reports on maintenance or replacement needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Industrial and Electronic Technologies Department Chair.

Required:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, vocational or technical training in Electrical Technology, a one-year Electrical Certificate, and demonstrated field knowledge.
- 3 years of work experience as an Electrician Helper.
Preferred:
- 1-year Electrical certificate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Industry work experience must be in the teaching field, preferably Electrical Technology related with emphasis on power systems, electrical machines, or industrial automation.
- Hands-on experience with electrical equipment or systems currently in use in the industry is essential.
- In addition to technical expertise in the Electrical Technology field, the individual must be able to communicate and provide instruction effectively.
- The individual must be willing to accept course overloads and teach flexible hours when required.
- The individual must also have knowledge of and actively practice the safe and proper operation of tools and equipment used in the electrical field, as well as tools and equipment used in the classroom and instructional labs.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Work Environment
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Work inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Special Conditions
Immediate supervisor may assign other duties. May be required to work outside regular working hours, as needed. May be required to work at a different college work site or campus as needed.
