Job Summary/Basic Function:
About the position:
Install, inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems for passenger elevators, equipment hoists, dumbwaiters; fire and intrusion alarms, signaling devices, detection equipment; emergency lights, signals, and notification devices; electrical circuits, switches, receptacles, motors, water pump controls and various other electrical devices.
This position plans, lays out, coordinates, and executes electrical installation, renovation, repair, and replacement projects and assignments. Work involves developing plans, performing calculations, and preparing estimates for electrical projects; developing the project layout, procedures, and sequence of work through the review and application of blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and building and electrical codes; and coordinating, assigning, overseeing, and reviewing the work performed by lower-level employees during these projects.

Required Qualifications:
- Six years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment, including two years performing skilled electrical installation and repair work in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years performing skilled electrical installation and repair work in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures.
- Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, hazards, and safety precautions of the electrical trades.
- Knowledge of:
- electrical codes and regulations relevant to electrical systems, components, and equipment that operate with up to 480 volts of electricity.
- the care and use of tools for testing, installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, fixtures, and components that operate with up to 480 volts of electricity.
- the electronic components of digitally controlled equipment, including controllers, sensors, and wiring.
- Ability to:
- troubleshoot, service, repair, modify and replace fire alarm systems and components.
- locate and repair electrical defects in equipment operating with up to 480 volts of electricity.
- read, interpret, and apply electrical blueprints, manufacturers' manuals, and schematics Basic working knowledge of NFPA.
- Experience with wet, dry and pre-action systems.
- Basic PC proficiency.
- Read and interpret electrical measuring devices.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
- Valid driver's license.
- Successful interview.
- Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years field experience at testing, inspecting, and troubleshooting systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and local applicable codes.
- Experience with Siemens panels.
- NICET certification.
- Possession of a valid license as a journey-level or master-level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction.

- Employee is expected to report to work during their designated shift during emergency situations, university closures or delays.
Days Worked: Monday - Friday
Hours/Shift worked: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (1/2 hour lunch)
