General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is currently seeking an Electrician. This position will perform technically and routine installation, repair, maintenance, and service of electrical equipment in university-owned buildings and other areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing service and repairs to the electrical distribution system
• Diagnosing problems, repair and maintaining a variety of electrical equipment
• Installing a variety of new equipment including complete electrical circuits to the equipment.
• Planning of workloads based on priorities
• Providing accurate and timely reports
• Ordering of electrical equipment, replacement parts, new parts, and supplies to maintain the ability to respond to normal and emergency tasks
• Coordinating with contractors and engineering staff to accomplish various electrical projects
• Ensuring the University's electrical systems are maintained to the highest standard

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge of electric to include single phase, three phase and their applications
• Knowledge of electrical equipment and systems, practices and code compliance
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, conduit benders, meters, testers, recording devices, circuit tracers, and ladders
• Ability to read and work from blueprints
• Ability to do basic diagnosis, service and repair to various types of electrical equipment
• Moderate computer skills
• Valid Driver's license
• Availability to fulfill on-call obligations and accommodate any necessary temporary shift demands
