Position Summary: Saint Mary's College is seeking a skilled and dependable Electrician to perform installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and components across campus. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of all campus facilities, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, college standards, and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including lighting, fire alarms, circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, and wiring.
• Diagnose electrical problems using appropriate testing devices and equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical code specifications.
• Collaborate with other Facilities staff to support campus-wide maintenance and improvement projects.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
• Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and college safety policies.
• Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and inspections conducted.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior facilities staff when applicable.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• May be exposed to electrical hazards; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
• May involve occasional evening or weekend work for special events or emergencies.

Requirements Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.
• Valid state electrician's license or certification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a commercial or institutional electrician.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Familiarity with campus environments or higher education institutions is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using electrical tools, testing equipment, and power tools.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physically capable of performing duties including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
