We’re looking for an experienced Electrician who wants more than just day-to-day service calls. If you’re ready to use your hands-on trade knowledge while stepping into a role that mixes technical work with contractor management, this is your opportunity.
In this role, you’ll still be actively working on Electrical systems, but you’ll also be the key point of contact on-site – helping manage minor works, coordinate contractors, solve technical issues, and ensure facilities are performing at their best. If you’ve ever thought about transitioning into a multi-disciplinary role but still love being on the tools, this is the best of both worlds.
Your Electrical trade is the most important qualification. Experience in other non-licensed areas or small-scale project work is a bonus – but UQ will provide support and training to help you grow.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Perform hands-on trade-based statutory, preventative, and corrective maintenance for building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire, and electrical systems.
- Supervise and coordinate contractors, ensuring high-quality and timely service delivery.
- Conduct building inspections, provide condition assessments, and advise on technical solutions.
- Develop and implement cost-effective maintenance strategies aligned with the University's goals.
- Collaborate on projects to enhance existing systems and improve operational performance.
- Participate in on-call rosters, uphold WHS standards, and assist with maintenance audits.
The base salary will be in the range $93,491.78 - $100,296.98 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6). A pre-determined market loading amount will also be applied to the base salary.

- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders and establish and become a trusted adviser and service provider to key clients.
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills to support delivery of maintenance services and the implementation of key facilities management initiatives.
