Electronic Technology Adjunct Instructor
Description
Teach courses in the Electronic technology program based on the instructor’s qualifications and program needs. Instruction may include include circuit analysis, electronics, troubleshooting, motors & controls, programmable controllers, and electrician's national code. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a team-oriented academic environment.
Adjunct instructor positions are part-time. Teaching assignments vary by semester and are based on enrollment. Therefore, there may be semesters where no assignments are available.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate and grade students’ class work, laboratory activities, assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Prepare and deliver instructional materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, homework assignments, laboratory activities, handouts, assessments, and other course materials in person, online, or in a hybrid format.
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical applications, including wiring methods, electrical theory, blueprint reading, National Electrical Code, motor theory, motor controls, programmable logic controllers, and power distribution.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom and laboratory discussions that support student learning, technical skill development, workplace readiness, and safe work practices.
- Compile, administer, and grade quizzes, examinations, skills assessments, laboratory projects, and other evaluations of student learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, grades, and performance in accordance with college policies and reporting expectations.
- Promote safe laboratory practices and ensure students follow appropriate safety procedures when working with electrical tools, materials, equipment, and training systems.
- Assist students in understanding course expectations, developing technical competencies, and connecting to appropriate college resources, including tutoring, advising, accessibility services, and other student support services.
- Participate in required college and program reporting processes, including grades, attendance, participation, assessment of student learning, and other documentation as needed.
- Work collaboratively with department leadership, faculty, staff, and industry partners to support student achievement, program quality, and alignment with workforce expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree or higher in electronic technology, engineering, architecture or related field or Associate degree or higher and relevant industry certification (i.e. CPT, SACA) or Associate degree or higher and 3 years documented industry experience relevant to course being taught.
