Summary of Position
Red Rocks Community College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Skills Instructor to support student learning in the psychomotor components of EMS courses. Under indirect supervision, the EMS Skills Instructor plays a critical role in reinforcing classroom instruction through hands-on skills labs that reflect current industry standards and practices. This part-time role works closely with course instructors and the EMS Program Director to ensure a high-quality, student-centered educational experience.
The EMS Skills Instructor is responsible for teaching and assessing students in practical lab settings using a variety of instructional techniques. The role includes providing constructive feedback, evaluating student performance, and promoting a respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages intellectual curiosity and professional growth. The instructor will also assist with setting up, maintaining, and breaking down skills stations, and ensuring equipment is used safely and correctly. Any equipment misuse or damage will be reported promptly.
The work schedule for this position varies, based on course availability at the Lakewood campus location. May require hours outside of normal work schedule. This position may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to move, position, lift and transport patients and equipment weighing up to 150 lbs
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience preparing, managing, and delivering course content using Desire2Learn (D2L) or a similar learning management system
- Experience creating lesson plans, activities, and assessments that lead students to successfully attain course learning outcomes and competencies
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Colorado EMS provider certification. Instructor will be limited to teaching courses consistent with their level of certification
- Valid Colorado driver's license
- At least one year of active field experience as an EMS provider at the level being taught
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in EMS, education, nursing, or closely related field
- Current Colorado Paramedic, (PA, MD, NP, or RN may be considered if candidate has EMS or related emergency experience), or ability to gain certification within 3 months of employment
- Current Colorado CTE credential with endorsements appropriate for EMS, or ability to gain the credential within 3 months of employment
- Proof of completion of the Colorado EMS assistant instructor course within 3 months of hire
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the patient care setting
- Experience that demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in state and national EMS regulatory requirements and education standards at all levels
- Prior experience as an EMS educator
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, lifts and transport patients and equipment weighing up to 150 lbs.
- Use of needles in a lab setting
- Exposure to weather when skills stations are conducted outside.
- Must be able to provide and receive verbal communication with instructions. Must be able to quickly stop students with verbal commands if a dangerous situation occurs
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Pay
The compensation for this position is $39.26 to $52.35 hourly, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
