The Department of Facilities Planning & Safety at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for our Energy Manager position. Expectations include, but are not limited to, implementation of campus clean energy master plan, oversight of energy management initiatives, development of decarbonization and renewable energy strategies and strategic management of the campus utilities purchasing.

The Department of Facilities Planning and Safety is responsible for capital planning, delivery of capital projects, energy management, health & safety, space management, facilities operations, and property control across 45 major buildings and approximately 2.4 million gross square feet of building floor space. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring & analyzing campus energy consumption
  • Identification of opportunities for energy efficiency improvements
  • Management of demand response programs
  • Implementation of energy efficiency improvements
  • Educational outreach to campus constituents
  • Management of utilities budgets and development of purchasing strategies
  • Active pursuit and acquisition of energy grants
  • Further development and implementation of the campus clean energy master plan
  • Reporting to SUNY and other entities on energy and sustainability matters
  • Oversight and responsibility for the campus decarbonization strategy
  • Compliance with the requirements of the CLCPA

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience. SUNY Oneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) qualifying employer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Energy, Sustainability, Engineering discipline, or closely related field
  • Demonstrable experience with HVAC & building systems integration energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy systems
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills necessary to work collaboratively with the campus community
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem solving

Preferred:

  • Certified Energy Manager qualifications
  • Knowledge of Utility rate/tariff structures
  • Experience with energy procurement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations
