"Engage Fairmont State Technician"

Position Overview

The Department of Student Engagement and Activities is seeking motivated and dependable student leaders to serve as Engage Fairmont State Technicians. This position is ideal for students who are passionate about campus life and eager to help their peers get involved. Technicians will work directly with student organizations, assist with campus events, and promote engagement opportunities through the Engage platform. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in leadership, communication, and teamwork—while making a positive impact on the Fairmont State community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Student Clubs & Organizations: Assist peers in setting up and managing their Engage pages, ensuring that organization information and event details are accurate and current.
• Represent Engage at Events: Serve as a knowledgeable and welcoming representative at orientations, involvement fairs, and other campus events—helping students learn how to connect through Engage.
• Help with Event Check-In: Monitor and manage check-in stations at events, ensuring smooth and accurate attendance tracking through the Engage system.
• Promote Campus Involvement: Support promotional efforts by distributing flyers, assisting with tabling, and helping share event information on social media to increase student participation.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Enrollment Status: Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at Fairmont State University in good academic standing (minimum GPA of 2.5 preferred).
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable interacting with individuals and groups.
• Dependability and Professionalism: Reliable, punctual, and able to represent the Department of Student Engagement and Activities with a professional demeanor.
• Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, approachable, and capable of working effectively with a diverse student population and campus organizations.
• Technological Proficiency: Basic familiarity with the Engage platform (or willingness to learn quickly) and general comfort with technology, including check-in apps, email, and social media.
• Teamwork and Initiative: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative, responsibility, and problem-solving skills.
• Availability: Must be available to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to support campus events and initiatives.
• Interest in Campus Life: A strong interest in student involvement, leadership, and the overall campus experience.
