Job Description
The School of Engineering at the University of Missouri - Saint Louis (UMSL), invites applications for an Engineering Laboratory Manager. The Engineering lab manager supports teaching and research laboratories across Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering programs, and the Design Studio. This position is responsible for daily lab operations, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and technical support for faculty and students.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, managing software lifecycles, supporting experiments, developing SOPs, ensuring safety compliance, managing procurement, and supervising student assistants.
Major equipment supported spans Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering, and the Design Studio (CNC, lathes, 3D printers, etc.).
Working Conditions: laboratory environments with mechanical, electrical, and occasional hazardous materials; proper PPE required.
Shift: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent with at least 1 year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, 5+ years hands-on lab experience, knowledge of safety standards, organizational skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, experience with CNC/lathes/milling, and other listed skills.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $18.87 - $26.87 per hour.
