Job Summary
The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's, Electrical & Computer Engineering department is seeking candidates for the Engineering Technician position. This position will performs work associated with laboratory and/or research equipment installation, fabrication, maintenance, and/or repair.
Essential Functions
- Installs, tests, repairs, upgrades and maintains equipment and facilities used in research and instruction.
- Schedules preventative maintenance and outages for equipment and facilities, while limiting downtime.
- Instructs and assists students and faculty in the proper use of research-related and/or instructional equipment and models while following safe operating procedures.
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts and maintenance supplies for all equipment and facilities.
- Assists with the design of prototype equipment, instruments, devices, components, and systems.
- Operates machinery and equipment associated with research and/or instruction.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Level I: Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a Technical, engineering, or scientific field related to laboratory equipment installation and maintenance with no experience.
Level II: Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a Technical, engineering, or scientific field related to laboratory equipment installation and maintenance PLUS 2 years of experience.
Level III: Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a Technical, engineering, or scientific field related to laboratory equipment installation and maintenance PLUS 4 years of experience.
Level IV: Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a Technical, engineering, or scientific field related to laboratory equipment installation and maintenance PLUS 6 years of experience.
Focus of Experience: Experience in the practices of assisting in engineering design and manufacturing.
Substitutions allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in higher education; knowledge of Auburn University administrative policies and procedures. Certified electrician, basic plumbing knowledge/experience, industrial systems or manufacturing technology maintenance experience or degree
Salary Range: $33,230 - $81,160
