Olympic College is continuously recruiting English Adjunct Faculty (part-time) to primarily teach composition and research courses at its Bremerton Campus. Olympic College seeks applicants who are dedicated to student-centered learning, closing achievement gaps, supporting diversity and social justice learning opportunities, and who employ data-informed decision-making in their instruction.
As a comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies, which includes awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; and four applied baccalaureate degrees. Additionally, we provide community education throughout our two-county region.
Essential Functions
- Teach primarily English composition courses (s) in accordance with the college catalog, use agreed-upon course outlines, and develop course syllabi in alignment with English 101 and 102 Student Learning Outcomes and departmental guidelines
- Teach day and evening classes in person, some may be located on the branch campuses of Poulsbo and Shelton.
- May also include teaching industrial accelerated composition courses at PSNS (Puget Sound Naval Shipyard), which will require base access.
- Teach in person and/or hybrid composition courses.
- Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record-keeping for assigned classes.
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day and to the division office by the 10th day of each quarter.
- Contribute to English Assessment efforts as needed. Respond to students' queries in a timely fashion.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs;
- Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff, and administrators;
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
