Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Instruct up to three sections of first-year composition classes during the Fall and Spring semesters. Composition courses at UCO focus on expository writing, argumentation, and research.
Experience Required
Possesses at least a Master's degree in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Experience Preferred
Master's degree in English required, MA in Comp/Rhet preferred. Two years college-level teaching experience required. Must be available for morning, afternoon, and/or evening sessions as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Adjunct faculty in English are instructors-of-record and are responsible for planning lessons, developing assignments and activities, grading and returning student work, and holding classes as scheduled by the University. Additional duties include scheduling office hours, answering email promptly, administering course evaluations, and meeting College of Liberal Arts and English Department deadlines.
