Position Summary:

Central/YUHSG seeks a High School English Teacher who will foster strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while creating a supportive, engaging classroom environment. This role includes planning and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach engaging English lessons aligned with curriculum goals
  • Create a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment
  • Assess student learning through a variety of methods and provide timely feedback
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress
  • Communicate openly and proactively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the school's mission and values

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Prior high school teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject area content and instructional best practices

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
