1. Introduction

Founded in 1909, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) is one of the key national universities directly under the administration of the China’s Ministry of Education. It is also listed in the national “211 Project” and “985 Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines”. As a distinctive multi-disciplinary research-oriented top university with over a century of history, CUMT has been playing an important leading role in the energy industry and the provincial economic and social development. At present, CUMT has a multi-disciplinary system focusing on engineering, features in mining, energy and environment. CUMT’s engineering and geoscience disciplines have entered the ESI top 1%.

CUMT covers an area of 297 hectares, including two campuses in Xuzhou with shuttle busses running in between: Wenchang campus covers an area of 107 hectares with a profusion of vegetation and surrounded by busy commercial blocks; Nanhu campus, as the main campus, covers an area of 190 hectares and is adjacent to the Yunlong Lake Scenic Area.

CUMT is located in Xuzhou city, Jiangsu Province, which is known as, and enjoys a convenient transportation hub in highway, railway, waterways and aviation. The Xuzhou Guanyin airport handles over 20 flight paths including those to Hong Kong, Macau, Seoul and Bangkok. The Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway brings Xuzhou into the 2-hour economic radius of the two mega-cities.

Xuzhou is also an eco-friendly city boasting a splendid landscape of mountains and rivers, with 72 hills and 7 lakes within the city. It is home to such well-known nature scenic areas as Yunlong Lake and Lvliang Mount, which makes it a precious living-friendly city in northern China.

2. Job description

English teacher

• 18 class hours per week including:
  • Language teaching courses around 16 class hours per week
  • General education elective courses at least 2 class hours per week
• Undergraduate students oriented
• Teaching English speaking, writing, culture and literature, etc.

3. Requirement

• English as first language
• Bachelor holder and above
• Two years relevant working experience or degree holders majoring in education and language
• High sense of responsibility and professionalism
• Mental health and physical health

4. Payment Scale

• 123,000 RMB annually for bachelor holder (80% pay by 12 months, 10% pay by the end of each teaching year, 10% pay by the end of the contract term according to performance)
• 140,000 RMB annually for master holder (80% pay by 12 months, 10% pay by the end of each teaching year, 10% pay by the end of the contract term according to performance)
• 150,000RMB annually for PhD holder (80% pay by 12 months, 10% pay by the end of each teaching year, 10% pay by the end of the contract term according to performance)
• Plus: 26,000 RMB annual accommodation subsidy, annual traffic allowance, work permit.
• 1,500 RMB/year for health insurance
