About the Department

Enterprise Application Services (EAS) is in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) division at North Carolina State University. EAS is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, enhancement, maintenance, configuration management, and database administration for the University’s enterprise business applications, data warehouses, analytics platforms, and the ServiceNow platform supported by OIT.

Essential Job Duties

The Enterprise DBA position serves as an experienced member of the team supporting the OIT Oracle enterprise databases, with specialized responsibility for Oracle Exadata engineered systems.

Enterprise Database Administration

Ensure the availability, performance, security, and recoverability of 19C+ enterprise Oracle databases (including RAC and multitenant) through proactive monitoring, OEM management, patching, and incident response.
Design, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies aligned with enterprise SLAs and compliance requirements.
Diagnose and resolve complex database performance and reliability issues, collaborating with application teams, infrastructure teams, and Oracle support as needed.
Apply Oracle security technologies to protect enterprise data and mitigate risk.
Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to support critical database services.

Exadata Administration

Administer and optimize Oracle Exadata engineered systems to maximize performance, availability, and resource efficiency.
Perform system-level administration, including patching, capacity planning, health checks, and integration with enterprise monitoring and backup solutions.
