"Environmental Services Technician (GWVNH)"

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician in this position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned patient care, administrative, rehabilitative and visitor areas in a long-term care facility.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

JANITORIAL DUTIES:

Perform a variety of cleaning tasks within an assigned work area to include dust and wet mop floors, clean and disinfect restrooms and showers daily with germicidal solution. Remove spots and spillage from patient floors and corridors. Clean chairs, bedside cabinets, bed trays and other exposed areas. Spot clean and sanitize walls, doors and door hinges, sills, and knobs. Terminal clean units upon patient discharge, cleaning closets and bedside cabinets. Participate in special cleaning projects as directed by supervisor.

CHEMICAL/BIOHAZARDOUS DUTIES:

Collect and transport biohazardous waste to designated area.

OTHER DUTIES:

Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. OR One year of experience in a similar position in a commercial, hospital or industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in environmental cleaning, particularly in a healthcare environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Good communication skills and ability to interact positively with the elderly population.

SKILLS

Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to perform to established standards. Ability to follow oral instructions and written procedures. Ability to prioritize work to provide a clean environment and promote patient, staff and visitor safety.
