POSITION DETAILS
The Queens Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) has been in existence since 1991 and is located in the Jamaica business district. The goal of the Queens EOC is to produce lifelong learners who are self-directed, empowered, and committed to excellence. Students and residents of the surrounding communities are provided a range of services designed to develop their academic, vocational and life skills necessary to become self-sufficient individuals. Program and services are structured to adapt to the needs of the community, and to serve as a readily accessible first step toward the attainment of long-term education/and or vocational goals.
The Sr. Career Job Developer reports directly to the Director of Student Support Services. He/she works closely with all EOC staff, within Student Support Services, and with students in the development of employment opportunities and jobs for Queens EOC graduates. He/she also assist the development of curriculum for employment preparation programs and activities i.e., job readiness and job search, and assist in the establishment of internship opportunities. He/she is primarily responsible for job placement outcomes. The Sr. Career Job Developer identifies and establishes community linkages related to industry, economic development and other initiatives that impact the center’s employment related objectives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop, cultivate, and sustain internship, apprenticeship and employment opportunities for Queens EOC graduates by applying established best practices and advancing employer engagement initiatives aligned with institutional workforce goals.
- Perform data management to include students' progress case notes, earned certificates, completed job applications and verified job placements in the BANNER Student Database System.Maintain sustained relationships with employers to secure job leads and employment for EOC graduates.
- Conduct comprehensive candidate assessments, including interviewing and skills evaluation, to appropriately refer EOC graduates to employment opportunities aligned with training, competencies, and industry demand.
- Serve as the liaison between Queens EOC and external employers, industries, agencies, and institutions, strengthening long-term collaborative relationships that support student employment outcomes.
- Represent Queens EOC at job fairs, recruitment events, and employer networking forums, promoting graduate talent and expanding institutional visibility within the workforce development community.
- Collaborate with leadership on the identification of goals and objectives for Employment Services i.e., delivery, outcomes, participant process, etc.
- Develop and submit annual goals and a performance program regarding service delivery expectations.
- Provide individualized career and job search support to students in collaboration with program counselors/advisors, ensuring alignment with academic and vocational pathways.
- Verify and document all job placements in compliance with program, institutional, and state requirements prior to data entry into the Banner system.
- Plans, organizes and conducts necessary supplemental services i.e., Career Days, Job Fairs, Job Search Workshops and delivery of Career Development activities related to specific vocational programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree Personnel Counseling, Labor/Industrial Relations or appropriate field of study.
At least four (4) years related administrative experience working with an economically and academically underprepared population.

- Develops placement opportunities for EOC students in program-related areas
- Contacts businesses and employers and markets the EOC and the capabilities of its students
- Plans and organizes employer meetings, job fairs, career days, and other student programs
- Develops and conducts regular sessions with students regarding job market, employment trends, emerging job opportunities and other topics of interest
- Develops and conducts job preparation activities for students
- Assesses employability of students and refers them to available job openings
- Schedules qualified students for employment interviews
- Follows up on students sent for employment interview in order to complete the placement process
- Works with other departments to ensure comprehensive outreach and follow-up
- Performs related duties as assigned
