GENERAL DUTIES
- Under supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in CUNY's Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC). Supervises cleaning and maintenance of buildings, their furnishings and their immediate grounds.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The State University of New York, Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), located in downtown Brooklyn as part of CUNY-New York City College of Technology, provides tuition free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents, providing a pathway to lifelong learning, college access and economic self-sufficiency. The BEOC welcomes applications for a full-time position as EOC Custodial Supervisor.
The EOC Custodial Supervisor oversees the custodial team at BEOC, ensuring that cleanliness and sanitation standards are upheld across all instructional and administrative spaces. This position does not include maintenance supervision beyond the scope of custodial operations.
The Custodial Supervisor will:
- Supervise a team of custodial assistants on cleaning and sanitation tasks.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Assign shifts and work schedules using timekeeping systems.
- Store, track, and distribute cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Train or arrange for training of custodial staff.
- Oversee the use of floor buffers, vacuums, extractors, etc.
- Perform recordkeeping and complete inspection reports as required.
- Replace light bulbs and ensure basic facility upkeep within custodial scope.
- Enforce all safety procedures and ensure safe use of ladders and tools.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of an eighth grade education and three years of full-time experience in the cleaning and maintenance of a building.
- Additional education above the eighth grade may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two years of the required work experience. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of one (1) year of full-time work experience as described above.
- Part-time experience of at least 20 hours per week may be prorated and credited instead of, but not in addition to, full-time experience during the same period.
- Demonstrated English language proficiency (ability to speak, read, write, and understand English well enough to meet job requirements).
- By the completion of the probationary period, demonstrated competency in supervising employees.
