About the Role:
We are excited to offer an opportunity to lead and chair our newly accredited Bachelor of Education Primary as a part of the Education Programs at Victoria University. Victoria University has a strong reputation in preparing the next generation of teacher educators. As a Course Chair you will have the opportunity to lead a team of academics in realising a course that is responsive the needs of primary school teaching. You will report to the Head of Program Education and will have staff reporting to you.
The successful candidate will teach across the Initial Teacher Education courses, specifically into units of study in the Bachelor of Primary Education and the Master Primary Teaching.
An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:
- Lead the Bachelor of Education Primary
- Provide leadership in designing innovative curricula, developing learning materials, teaching, coordinating, and moderating courses.
- Contribute to the academic service, collegiality and engagement, including efficient management of internal service roles
This is full-time continuing role at a Teaching and Research Academic C $129,435 - $149,246 per annum classification, plus 17% superannuation working 36.75 hours per week. This position is located at our Footscray Park campus.
About you:
- Hold a qualification – PhD in the area of relevancy pedagogical and/or curriculum in Primary School education.
- A broad-based knowledge of the demands of primary teacher education and the teaching profession
- Experience in leading an initial teacher education course in relation to all aspects, including accreditation, monitoring and adjustments to ATSIL standards, the Department of Education and the Victorian Institute of Teaching
- Have a strong passion for teaching and a desire for continuous improvement and development in student learning
- Possess a background in training or teaching at the higher education level, particularly in initial teacher education for primary schools
- Have demonstrated academic knowledge of curriculum relevant to education (particularly primary education)
- Are keen to contribute to research programs within the discipline and the college
- Can facilitate excellence in undergraduate teaching through the development and promotion of innovative teaching methods
