Equestrian Operations Staff

The Campus Rec Part Time Staff is responsible for performing operational tasks for respective Campus Recreation programs and facilities. They will provide excellent customer service, maintain facility and asset cleanliness, ensure that all policies are followed by guests and participants, and ensure all safety measures are being implemented.

The Equestrian Operations Staff is responsible for supporting and overseeing operations at the Equestrian Center during set work hours. The Equestrian Operations Staff will provide direction to student employees on shift and approved CSER volunteers by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures in the facility. The Equestrian Operations Staff is responsible for maintaining safety, reducing risk and providing excellent customer service to all patrons.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overseeing the Equestrian Center during operational hours, ensuring horse care, facility cleanliness, a high level of customer service, and effective operations.
  • Responsible for assisting in the oversight of a student employees on shift and approved CSER volunteers.
  • Assist in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies at the Equestrian Center, ensuring compliance with University policies.
  • Document and report incidents and injuries at the Equestrian Center.
  • Assist with Equestrian Center facility maintenance, including but not limited to feeding, watering, grooming, exercising, and turning out horses as needed.
  • Assist with Equestrian Center programming, including but not limited to recreational events, camps, lessons, and trail rides.
  • Responsible for assisting with maintenance of the Equestrian Center equipment and facilities, including regular cleaning.
  • Frequently oversee operations or events during evening, nights or weekend hours.
  • Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.
  • Perform all other tasks assigned by the Assistant Director of Operations to aid and assist in the operation of Campus Recreation Facilities.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has supervisory responsibilities for student employees on shift.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years prior horse experience (ownership, stable employment and/or professional equine experience)
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
  • Ability to work up to 29 hours per week
  • Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree from an accredited university
  • Management experience
  • Experience working in the equine industry
  • Desire to pursue recreation and/or the horse/equine industry as a career field
